Augmented Reality Software Company, Hoth Intelligence Receives First FDA 510(k) Approval
Hoth Intelligence, a health care augmented reality software company, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared OrionXR, its augmented reality software tool for display, manipulation, and evaluation of externally generated 3D models of patient anatomy.
OrionXR is an augmented reality software system that enables neurosurgeons to see, interact with, and manipulate anatomical structures virtually before an actual procedure begins. OrionXR offers an additional level of visualization and preparation.
“We are pleased with the 510(k) clearance which will allow OrionXR to be made available for excellence and innovation in pre-operative planning for neurosurgical procedures nationwide,” stated cofounders Tyler Alexander and Jonathan Cohen.
Dr. Graeme Woodworth, MD, FACS, Howard M. Eisenberg Distinguished Professor
and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at University of Maryland Medicine stated, “The emergence of augmented reality for surgical planning and performance optimization is revolutionizing the operating room. The Hoth OrionXR platform is a streamlined, user friendly, and a content-rich tool. It will be exciting to see where this technology takes us and in particular, how it improves patient care in the future.”
Additionally, Dr. Gary Schwartzbauer, MD, PhD and Associate Professor at University of Maryland Medicine stated, “there comes a time when technology meets the need, and this is the time. Hoth Intelligence provides an augmented reality tool that complements surgical experience to optimize surgical planning. The pre-operative ability to see and manipulate patient-specific anatomy is the unavoidable future of neurosurgery, and I am very excited to see where this powerful technology takes us.”
